SWV is a gospel group that mainly plays R&B, hip hop, and soul genres. It was formed in 1988 by Cheryl Gamble known also known as "Coko,” Tamara Johnson better known as "Taj" and Leanne Lyons also known as "Lelee", all very good friends since school days. In 1992 they released their first album "It´s About Time", with one of their most successful hits "Right Here" which reached the top 13 on R&B charts. Other singles from their debut album were very popular too, like "Weak" and "Always on my mind". In 1995 the trio did the vocals of the Backstreet single "Tonight is the Night". In1996 they released their second album "New Beginning" and after having some singles on top charts and releasing a third album in 1997, the group disbanded in 1998. They came back in 2012 with an album called "I missed us". In 2017 they won the Soul Train Lady of Soul Award.
