The Adicts Bio
The Adicts are a British punk band that originates from Ipswich, Suffolk, and was created in 1975. The band's initial name was The Afterbirth, but the group never created any recordings or performed live. The band was soon renamed and became The Pinz. After their second title, the band settled on their third and final name - The Addicts which they became known as.
Their first rise to prominence began with the now famous 'Droog' image - a symbol from Kubrick's cult movie A Clockwork Orange (1971). This symbol, along with their strong, rhythmic approach to punk and their cheery verses, enabled them to distinguish themselves from other punk bands. The band was often characterized as indie as well.
The Adicts have a rich discography consisting of albums such as Songs of Praise (1981), Sound of Music (1982), Fifth Overture (1986), Rise and Shine (2002), Life Goes On (2009), and their latest issue And It Was So! (2017).
