Butcher Brown is a musical group formed in 2012 and is based in Richmond, Virginia. The group is made up of Marcus Tenney, Morgan Burrs, Corey Fonville, Andrew Randazzo, and DJ Harrison. The group was founded by Harrison, Randazzo, and Fonville. The three have been playing together since 2009, playing at local venues with a rotating membership. In 2013, the group began releasing their recordings with their own imprint, releasing the albums Backtracks and A Sides B Sides. They released their first full-length album, All Purpose Music, in 2014. In 2017, the group began touring nationally, opening for other artists like Galactic, Turkuaz, and Lettuce. In 2019, they released Afrokuti, a tribute to Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti. In 2020, they released their eighth album, #KingButch. With a cover designed by Lou Beach, the album features a track with guest rapper Fly Anakin and the first time Tenney showcased his skills as a lyricist and MC.
