Coming from Waterlord, Michigan, The Black Dahlia Murder was formed in 2001. The band was named after the 1947 slaying of Elizabeth Short aka the Black Dahlia. The band’s genre revolves in death black metal music. After the band was formed, they released a six-song demo entitled “What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse” together with a four-track EP entitled “A Cold Blooded Epitaph” under Lovelost Records.
The band was comprised of members Trevor Strnad, Brian Eschbach, Jon Kemppainen, David Lock, and Cory Grady. They all signed under Metal Blade label in 2003. They released their debut album “Unhallowed” that same year. By 2005, “Miasma” was released followed by 2007’s “Nocturnal.”
