Vanessa Paradis, born as Vanessa Chantal Paradis on December 22nd, 1972 in Saint-Maur-des-Fosses is a French musician, songwriter, and actress that began her career at the age of 14. She began singing at the age of 7 and appeared on a local talent show called L’Ecole des fans.
In 1987 at the age of 14 Vanessa broke onto the French music scene with her second single “Joe le Taxi.” The song was recorded in French and charted in at number 1 for 11 weeks on the French Pop Charts. The song even made its way to the UK and peaked at number 3 on the UK Pop Charts. She released her first album, M&J, in 1988 where it charted in at number 13 in France. In 1990 Vanessa released her second album Variations sur le meme t’aime. She won the “Best Singer Award” the same year at Les Victories de la Musique and a Cesar Award for “Most Promising Actress” for her role in the movie Noce Blanche.
In 1992 she collaborated with Lenny Kravitz on her English debut album Vanessa Paradis. In 2007 she released a new album called Divindylle and followed the release with a worldwide tour. 2013 saw Vanessa release another album called Love Songs.
