Confederate Railroad is an American country rock band formed in Marietta, Georgia in 1987. The current members of the band are Danny Shirley, Rusty Hendrix, Mark DuFresne, Mo Thaxton, and Joey Recker. In 1992 the band was signed to the label Atlantic Records and released their debut album self-titled Confederate Railroad that was certified 2x Platinum in the U.S. The next year they received an ACM Award for Best New Group. In 1994 they released their second album titled Notorious that was also certified Platinum in the U.S. They have since released the albums When and Where, Keep on Rockin’, Unleashed, Cheap Thrills, and Lucky to Be Alive. In total they have released seven studio albums and six compilation and live albums. More than twenty of their songs have charted on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts.
