Jane’s Addiction is an alternative rock band from LA, with a venerated history as one of the precursors to the alternative rock movement that would end hair metal’s dominance in the 1980s. The group’s seeds sprung from Perry Farrell’s previous band, Psi-Com, fell apart and he was putting together a new group to front. Past members include Flea, bassist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Duff McKagan, bassist for Guns ‘n’ Roses. The current line-up includes Dave Navarro (guitar, keyboard), Chris Chaney (bass), and Stephen Perkins (drums).
Jane’s Addiction has a lasting legacy still felt today. With only four studio albums, three of them are certified platinum, silver, and gold. Their 1990 single “Been Caught Stealing” blew away everything else happening in music. Acts which have toured with, mixed members with, or collaborated with Jane’s Addiction include Porno for Pyros, Deconstruction, Banyan, Camp Freddy, Polar Bear, Satellite Party, The Panic Channel, and Nine Inch Nails.
