Canadian electro-pop group Dragonette is best known for their international hit “Hello”, which was created alongside the producer Martin Solveig. Singer and lyricist Martina Sorbara had a solo career as an adult alternative solo artist before creating Dragonette. Here, she released her first album as a solo artist, which was called “The Cure for Bad Deeds” and released on 2002.
Sobara founded Dragonette with band Kurtz, guitarist Simon Craig and drummer Joel Stouffer. Their album caught the eye of Mercury Records, With them, they released several singles and an album “Galore”, also relocating to England from Canada. Galore was also released in the U.S. but under Surrender Records. Their second album, Fixin’ to Thrill, charted in Canada’s Top Ten in 2009 and earned a JUNO nomination. Still UK based, they have since released more singles and taken part in multiple collaborations.
