Julia Michaels, born Julia Carin Cavazos on November 13th, 1993 in Davenport, Iowa began singing at the age of 12. Following in her father’s footsteps, she also began writing music for other high profile artists and tv programs. Her musical inspirations include artists such as Fiona Apple, Lisa Marling, Paramore, and The Fray.
At the age of 14, Julia met songwriter Joleen Belle. Together they wrote the “Austin and Ally” theme song for TV and released a 5 song EP. Julia met the songwriter Lindy Robbins a few years later and together they the song “Fire Starter” for Demi Lavato. A fruitful partnership was born between the two songwriters. Julia would go on to write songs for artists that include Fifth Harmony, Hailee Steinfeld, Gwen Stefani, Selena Gomez, Ed Sheeran, Shakira, and Linkin Park.
In 2017 Julia embarked on her solo music career. She released her first single in January called “Issues.” She appeared on tracks like Jason Derulo’s “Trade Hearts” and Zedd’s “Straight into the Fire.” Julia’s song “How Do We Get Back To Love” debuted on the TV show Girls. In July she released her first EP on Republic Records called Nervous System.
