Jesse Colin Young, whose real birth name is Perry Miller, is an American singer and songwriter who was born on November 22, 1941, in Queens, New York. He began his professional career in the 1960s when he created the rock band 'The Youngbloods' and became its lead singer. After the band disbanded in 1972, Jesse decided to pursue a career as a solo artist.
He signed with Warner Bros Records and proceeded to release his first album titled Song for Juli in 1973. He then released the albums 'Light Shine' in 1974, 'Songbird' in 1975, and 'On the Road' in 1976. He then spent a decade creating music with Elektra Record and Cypress Records after he decided to create his own label, which was called Ridgetop Music in 1993. He decided to retire from music in 2012 often being diagnosed with Lyme disease but began performing again in 2016 alongside his son Tristan.
