Villagers Bio

Coming from Dun Laoghaire, Dublin, Ireland, Villagers was formed in 2008. Singer and song writer Conor J. O’Brien began writing his solo material after his previous band the Immediate broke up. His four-track EP was released in 2009. However, he realized the need for more musicians thereby recruiting other members Tommy McLaughlin, Danny Snow, James Byrne, and Cormac Curran.

The band’s debut album “Becoming a Jackal” was released under Domino Records in 2010. It was then nominated for the Mercury Music Prize several times. O’Brien won Best Song Musically and Lyrically Ivor Novello award in 2011. Villagers released “The Waves” in 2012. In 2016, they released “Where Have You Been All My Life.”
