Singer-songwriter Tyler Carter was born Derek Tyler Carter on December 30, 1991 in Habersham County, Georgia. He started playing drums at a young age and attended Riverside Military Academy for middle and high school.
After a short stint as a member of the group, A Path Less Traveled, Carter was recruited to develop another band, Woe, Is Me, in 2009. The band released one album, “Numbers,” before Carter left to pursue other endeavors. In 2012, he started the metalcore/nu metal band, Issues, with Scout. They were later joined by Scout’s twin brother and AJ Rebollo to fill out the group. In 2012, they released an EP entitled “Black Diamonds.” Their debut self-titled album was released in February 2014 and made “Rock Sound’s Top 50 Albums of the Year” list. Carter also works on solo projects on the side and released his solo debut album, “Leave Your Love,” in January 2015.
