Coming from London, England, Bloc Party was formed in 1999 by members Kele Okereke, Russell Lissack, Gordon Moakes, and Matt Tong. They first went by the name Angel Range and Union. Okereke and Lissack met at the Reading Festival where they learned about each other’s musical taste. Later, Tong and Moakes joined in to make a collaboration. In 2003, they released their first demo.
They were invited to play at the Domino tenth anniversary bash in 2003 after they gained attraction from press. In 2004, Bloc Party released “She’s Hearing Voices” as a single on “Trash Aesthetics.” Soon after, the band signed for Wichita label to release their full-length in UK. Their debut album “Silent Alarm” arrived in 2005.
