Gone West was a country music group formed in 2018 and based in Nashville. The group was founded and consisted of members Colbie Caillat, Jason Reeves, Justin Kawika Young, and Nelly Joy. The band came together as a result of Caillat taking a break from her solo career as a recording artist. She and Young headed to Nashville, where they reunited with friends and frequent collaborators, Reeves and Joy. When an opportunity to tour together came, the four friends decided that they were going to turn their friendship and chemistry into a group called Gone West. The group recorded and released a live rendition of their first song, This Time, to their YouTube channel and quickly gained momentum. They released their first EP, Tides, in 2019, and followed that up with their debut album, Canyons, in 2020. Their EP and album have appeared in multiple top charts, including Canyons peaking at number 28 in the Top Country Album Chart and number 2 on the Heatseekers Album Chart. In 2020, Caillat announced the group’s decision to end Gone West.
