Christopher Cross Bio

Christopher Cross is an American singer and songwriter born in San Antonio, Texas on May 3, 1951. He started his career in music playing in the cover band Flash. In 1978 he signed a solo contract with Warner Bros. He released his debut studio album in 1979 self-titled Christopher Cross. The songs “Ride Like the Wind”, “Never Be the Same”, “Say You’ll Be Mine”, and “Sailing” all became top 20 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Christopher won five Grammy Awards after the release of his debut album, Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Arrangement. He is the only artist in Grammy History to win all four General Field awards in a single ceremony. He has since released the albums Another Page, Every Turn of the World, Back of My Mind, Rendezvous, Window, Walking in Avalon, Red Room, A Christopher Cross Christmas and more. In total he has released 15 studio albums and 5 compilation albums. Throughout his career he has won five Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, an Academy Award, and an ASCAP Film and Television Music Award.
