Candice Bergen is an American actress and former model born in Beverly Hills, California on May 9, 1946. She is best known for her roles on the television shows Murphy Brown and Boston Legal, and her roles in the films Starting Over and Gandhi. She started her career as a model and was featured on the covers of the fashion magazine Vogue. In 1966 she made her debut in film in the movie The Group that was directed by Sidney Lumet, a friend of Bergen’s family. She continued landing roles in films like Live for Life, The Adventurers, Soldier Blue, The Hunting Party, The Domino Principle, Oliver’s Story, Starting Over, Sweet Home Alabama, Sex and the City and others. She made her debut on television in 1967 in the show Coronet Blue and has since had roles in the shows Saturday Night Live, The Muppet Show, Hollywood Wives, Murphy Brown, Seinfeld, Understanding, Law & Order, Boston Legal, House, Battle Creek Creek and others. Throughout her career she has been nominated for a number of awards and has won two Golden Globe Awards, 5 Primetime Emmy Awards, two People’s Choice Awards, and more.
