Ralph George Macchio Jr. was born on November 4, 1961 in Long Island, New York. His career started out with him acting in commercials for popular brands including Dr. Pepper. One of his first roles was in The Outsiders (1983), in which he starred opposite the late Patrick Swayze.
His first massive role was in 1984 when he became famous for his work in Karate Kid. This led to numerous sequels and also opened up many opportunities for Macchio. He nabbed the lead role in the 1996 remake of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. He appeared in many magazines including Teen Beat, and he was also featured in My Cousin Vinny, the popular 2002 film also starring Joe Pesci.
Macchio’s next prominent roles were in 2005 when he starred in HBO’s Entourage and in 2007 when he starred in Head Case. He appeared as a guest in a few Ugly Betty episodes on ABC, and in 2008 he was awarded a spot on VH1’s Greatest Teen Stars List. He has recently appeared in Funny or Die, Dancing with the Stars, How I Met Your Mother, and several sequels to Karate Kid. Macchio has received various awards and nominations at different film festivals and expos.
