Alfre Woodard is an award-winning American actress who has appeared in numerous blockbuster films. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States, on November 8, 1952. She began her career in the theatre where she starred in the theatrical releases of Me and Bessie, 2 by South, and Drowning Crow. In the late 70s, she transitioned to a Film and TV actress with appearances in Remember My Name, Health, and Freedom Road. She has starred in the films Captain America: Civil War, Dinosaur, Star Trek: First Contact, 12 Years a Slave, and Annabelle. She was part of the voice cast of the live-action remake of Lion King alongside Donald Glover, Beyonce Knowles, Seth Rogen, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Her accolades include four Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Special, and an Oscar nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
