David Gray Bio

David Gray (June 13, 1968) is a folk-rock British singer and songwriter. Originally from Sale, Cheshire, Gary released his first two album, ‘A Century Ends’ in 1993 and ‘Flesh’ in 1994. His third album ‘Sell, Sell, Sell’ gave him popularity in the UK through alternative UK rock stations. His fourth album, ‘White Ladder’ was released in 2000 with his best-known singles ‘Babylon’, ‘Please Forgive Me’, This Year’s Love’ and ‘Babylon’. Babylon’ hit number 5 on the UK Singles Chart and remains to be his biggest hit in the UK to date. In 2002, ‘White Ladder’ topped the UK Albums Chart at number 1 and spent 151 weeks on the chart. In 2001, Gray released a compilation of his early works titled ‘The Eps 1992-1994’ and ‘Lost Songs 95-98’ which both landed in the Top 20 of the UK Albums Chart. Gray followed his chart toppers with a follow up to ‘White Ladder’ titled ‘A New Day at Midnight’. The album also landed at number 1 on the YK charts and achieved platinum accreditation in the following year. Gray went on to be popular in UK with folk alternative rock hits and released six more albums; ‘Life in Slow Motion’ in 2005, ‘Draw The Line’ in 2009, ‘Foundling’ in 2010, ‘Mutineers’ in 2014 and ‘Gold in a Brass Age’ in 2019. 2020 marks the 20th anniversary of his breakthrough album, ‘White Ladder’.
