Four Tet is the stage handle of Kieran Hebden, originally from the UK alternative rock band Fridge before breaking out into a solo career as a DJ, producer, and an indie artist. His work shows influence from genres such as jazz, electronica, folk music, and hip-hop. Some have even gone as far as to label his genre “folktronica,” which makes a lot of sense when you listen to him.
Four Tet has collaborated with artists including Thom Yorke of Radiohead, classic Motown drummer Steve Reid, and British EDM musician Burial. He has released remixes by artists including Aphex Twin, Bicep, Explosions in the Sky, Super Furry Animals, Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Rey, Manic Street Preachers, Sia, and Black Sabbath. In 2017, he was nominated for a Grammy Award for “Best Remixed Recording” for his remix of “Violent Noise.”
