Aslan Karatsev Bio
Aslan Kazbekovich Karatsev is a professional tennis player born in Vladikavkaz, Russia, on September 4, 1993. He turned pro in 2011. Coached by Boris Sobkin, Aslan won the 2021 ATP Most Improved Player of the Year. His highest ranking, number 14, was on February 17, 2022.
Aslan won the silver medal in the All-ROC final with Elena Vesnina at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. He is the first man in the Open Era to become a semi-finalist in his Grand Slam debut, the Australian Open (2021), doing it as the lowest-ranked since Goran Ivanisevic at 2001 Wimbledon. His first ATP title was won in March 2021 at the Qatar Open (doubles) with Andrey Rublev.
Aslan has represented Russia at several games. His Grand Slam singles record includes the French Open 2R (2021), the Wimbledon 1R (2021), and the US Open 3R (2021). He won the Davis Cup in 2021. In 2021, he received several medals, including Merited Master of Sports of Russia, For Merit to the Fatherland, and For the Glory of Ossetia.
