Jesse Puljujarvi, a hockey player from Finland, was born in Alvkarleby, Sweden, on May 7, 1998. In 2013, he made a significant youth debut in Finland with Karpat Jr. He was rated as the third-best skater available in the months up to the 2016 NHL draft. The Edmonton Oilers selected the right-wing with the fourth overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. On opening night of the 2016–2017 season, when he also made his NHL debut, he made his debut for the club. At the 2016 World Junior Championships, he also assisted Finland in winning the gold medal. He received the competition's best forward and most valuable player awards. During the 2016 World Junior Championships, he shared second place among all players under the age of 18 with Eric Lindros and Wayne Gretzky. His final score was 17 in total.
