Ibram Xolani Kendi, commonly known as Ibram X. Kendi, was born in Queens, New York, on August 13, 1982. He is an American novelist, historian, and activist who has written and researched American racism and antiracism. He claimed that racial beliefs and practises are deeply embedded in American culture via his publications and lectures. Both scholarly and general audiences benefited from Kendi's writings. 2012 saw the publication of his first book, “THE BLACK CAMPUS MOVEMENT: BLACK STUDENTS AND THE RACIAL RECONSTITUTION OF HIGHER EDUCATION, 1965-1972”. It examines Black student activism and the development of African American studies curricula at primarily white and historically Black colleges and universities. Kendi earned the National Work Award for Nonfiction for his subsequent book, “STAMPED FROM THE BEGINNING: THE DEFINITIVE HISTORY OF RACIST IDEAS IN AMERICA (2016)”. The young adult edition is titled “STAMPED: RACISM, ANTIRACISM, AND YOU” (2020).
