D.J. ‘Shangela’ Pierce was born Darius Jeremy Pierce on November 22, 1981 in Paris, Texas, United States. She is a reality television personality and actor and also an American drag queen. She’s most known for her role in RuPaul’s Drag Race as well as her role in A Star Is Born. She was in the reality series for more than one season as she was invited multiple times. She found herself named as one of the top 100 Most Powerful Drag Queens in America by New York magazine which was announced in 2019. Because of her role in A Star is Born, she was the first drag queen to walk the red carpet at the Oscars and she was hand-picked for the role by Lady Gaga.
