Model turned actress, Andie MacDowell, also known as Rosalie Anderson MacDowell, was born April 21st, 1958 in South Carolina. No stranger to a camera lens, Andie was discovered by Wilhelmina Models and later signed with Elite Model Management. During this time, she landed notable modelling campaigns for L’Oréal and Calvin Klein. Wanting to expand her skillset, Andie studied method acting at the Actors Studio. MacDowell launched herself from modelling to acting with her debut film, Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes. After taking on a role in Elmo’s Fire, it was her performance in Sex, Lies and Videotape that catapulted her into Hollywood, landing her a Golden Globe nomination. The role also won her the Independent Spirit Award and Los Angeles Film Critics Association awards for Best Actress. From there she proved her acting chops in hits like Groundhog Day, and Four Weddings and a Funeral. Her career spans far and wide with diverse roles and captivating performances, including Short Cuts, Beauty Shop and Cedar Cove.
