Stephan de Vrij is a Dutch professional soccer player born on February 5, 1992 in Ouderkerk aan den IJssel, Netherlands.
De Vrij began playing football at age 5 for the local club VV Spirit before progressing to Feyenoord's academy at age ten. At Feyenoord, De Vrij shifted from his midfield role which he played mostly at VV Spirit to a critical central defense role. On September 24, 2009, aged 17, De Vrij made his debut for the Feyenoord senior side.
After his spell at Feyenoord, De Vrij moved to Italy to play with the prolific Serie A side, SS Lazio. He won the Italian Cup with the team in the 2017/2018 season. On May 28, 2018, De Vrij completed his much anticipated move to Inter Milan.
He has also been included on Netherlands' national team with impressive runs at the 2009 UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship in Germany where the team finished second and the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil where he played alongside Arjen Robben.
