Alton Brown is an American actor, director, chef, author and television personality. He was born Alton Crawford Brown Jr. on the 30th of July, 1962 in Los Angeles, California, U.S. He studied film at the University of Georgia drama department. He also graduated from the New England Culinary Institute in 1997, and he set out to produce his first own show “Good Eats”, in which he inquired into the science behind the cooking, as well as the history of foods and cooking equipment. Brown’s work was nominated for the James Beard Foundation’s “Best T.V. Food Journalism Award” in 2000, and in 2006, “Good Eats” won a Peabody Award. In 2011, he also earned the James Beard Award for Best TV Food Personality for “Good Eats”. In 2005, Brown hosted “Iron Chef America: Battle of the Masters”, an adaptation of the Japanese cooking show “Iron Chef”, as well as “The Next Iron Chef”. Brown has done national tours like “Alton Brown Live: The Edible Inevitable Tour” in 2013, and “Alton Brown Live: Eat your Science” in 2016. He is also an awarded author, as he earned the Best Book Award for his first book “I’m Just Here for the Food”.
