The soul-pop band from New York, Lawrence, consists of vocalist Gracie Lawrence and siblings Clyde and Gracie Lawrence on keyboards and songs, and are well-known for their eclectic and catchy brand of piano- and horn-driven soul-pop. Together, the siblings started writing music, and by 2015, Lawrence was well-recognised. After a series of live performances, they released their debut EP, Breakfast, in 2016. It was produced by Eric Krasno, and it featured Adam Deitch from Lettuce, Cory Henry from Snarky Puppy, and Maurice "Mobetta" Brown as special guests. Online buzz about the album contributed to increased interest in the band. Breakfast: Unscrambled, an acoustic rendition of the EP, was released in 2018. Living Room, the group's first full-length album, was released in the same year and peaked in the Top Ten of the digital charts. The band went on tour in 2019 with musician Jon Bellion. Additionally, "Casualty," a one-off single produced by Bellion, was released.
