Born on December 24, 1959, Lee Daniels came from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He studied at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri. He soon moved to Los Angeles to start a nursing agency. Then, he sold the agency and used the money to start his career in entertainment. Later, he started to work with Prince on “Purple Rain” and “Under the Cherry Moon.”
He started his own production company Lee Daniels Entertainment. The first film was the critically-acclaimed “Monster’s Ball” starring Billy Bob Thornton, Heath Ledger, and Halle Berry. His directing debut was for the film “Shadowboxer” with cast Helen Mirren and Cuba Gooding Jr. among others. His film “Precious” won a Sundance Film Festival.
