Ashleigh Barty Bio

Born on 24th April 1994, Ashleigh Barty is a former professional tennis player from Australia. She started playing tennis at 4. After winning her 2011 Wimbledon girls’ singles title, she reached a career-high ranking in the World No.2. Her WTA tour began in 2013, when she had a successful streak in the doubles category. At 16, she became the runner-up with partner Casey Dellacqua at three Grand Slam doubles events. She took a break from tennis in the late 2014 season and switched to cricket. She also played for the Brisbane Heat in the Women’s Big Bash League. In 2016, she returned to tennis and had a breakthrough in her singles career in 2017, winning her first ever WTA title at the Malaysianopen. In 2018, she won the first-ever Grand Slam and Premier Mandatory title in the doubles category. The highlight of her career came in 2019 with her victory at the French Open. She is a three-time Australian Open Champion in the singles category. Barty became the second Australian to be ranked World No.1 by the WTA.
