GoldLink Bio

Rapper GoldLink was born D’Anthony Carlos in Washington, D.C. on January 1, 1994.  As a child he moved to Maryland, eventually settling in Virginia.

The emcee originally performed under his given name, then as Gold Link James, before settling on his current moniker. GoldLink released his debut mixtape, The God Complex, in 2014.  Featuring production from Louie Lastic, Lakim, and Fingalick, the collection received acclaim from Complex Magazine, appearing on their “Best Albums of 2014 (So Far)” list, and from Pitchfork, which granted the album a 7.9 rating. In 2015, he was named one of XXL Magazine’s Freshman Class. Later that year came GoldLink’s second mixtape, And After That, We Didn’t Talk, which included production from Rick Rubin.

GoldLink’s debut studio album, At What Cost, was released in March 2017 and boasted a slew of featured artists, including Wale, Shy Glizzy, Ciscero, Kokayi, and singer Mya, among others. Producers included Louie Lastik, Steve Lacy, Kaytranada, Matt Martians, and Taz Arnold.
