Ibeyi is a French musical duo made up of the twin sisters Lisa-Kainde Diaz and Naomi Diaz. Of Cuban and Venezuelan origins the du sings in English, Spanish, French and Yoruba. With music that has elements of Afro-Cuban, Yoruba and French tones, fusing jazz with beats, samples and traditional instruments.
Within the duo, Liza sings the vocals and plays piano while Naomi plays the Cajon and Bata drum. With two studio albums so far, their first album is called Ibeyi and peaked high on international and French charts. Their second album also did well in France. Signed early by XL records they claim their influences to be King Krule, Frank Ocean and their own father Anga Diaz, a Cuban percussionist.
