Chris Colfer Bio
Chris Colfer was born on May 27, 1990 in Clovis, California. Colfer’s creativity as an artist began shining in his younger years, as he was a passionate and talented writer. He often wrote and acted in his school’s plays growing up and he also won numerous awards in speech, writing, and debating.
Colfer became a household name with his first ever on screen gig after being cast by director Ryan Murphy on his hit TV show Glee (2009-2015). Colfer’s character, Kurt Hummel, was a character written in the story specifically for Colfer after failing to land the character of Artie to Kevin McHale. Both Murphy and Colfer have stated that a lot of subplots that Kurt experienced in the show were inspired by real events in Colfer’s life.
Apart from the awards that Colfer won as part of an ensemble cast of Glee, Colfer has also bagged individual nominations and awards. He was twice nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in Comedy Series, nominated for a SAG award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series, and most notably won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television.
