Emile Davenport Hirsch was born on March 13, 1985 in Palms, Los Angeles, California. He began acting at the tender age of just eight although they just consisted of minor parts in TV series like Kindred (1997) and Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1999). While his first film role was in widely acclaimed Wild Iris (2001), his personal recognition would not come until a few years later in The Girl Next Door (2004).
More roles followed but it was 2007 when he first started to gain acclaim after putting in starring roles in first Alpha Dog (2007) and then Into the Wild the same year. The latter saw him earn a nomination for best actor from the Screen Actors Guild where his dedication to the role saw him lauded by critics. Since then, he has worked steadily in a number of sizable hits including Milk (2008), Savages (2012) and Lone Survivor (2013).
