Yulia Putintseva is a Russian-born, Kazakihstni tennis player who was born on 7th January 1995 in Moscow, Russia. She was introduced to the sport by her father. After winning a major Under 14 event, she started a successful career as a junior in 2008, reaching the World No.3 spot in 2012. Her first Grand Slam semifinal as a junior was at the US Open in 2009 where she emerged a champion. Her career continued to rise with a semi-final entry into Wimbledon and a quarterfinal entry at the Youth Olympic Games. She finished her junior year with five singles titles in the ITF Junior Circuit. Her first tournament as a professional was at the Luxembourg Open in 2010. In 2012, she began to represent Kazakhstan instead of Russia and recorded her first WTA Tour win. She reached three Grand Slam quarterfinals in her career, once at the US Open and twice at the French Open. She has also won two singles titles on the WTA tour. In February 2017, she achieved career-high rankings of World No.27.
