Based in Brighton, the multi-genre band YONAKA, consisting of Theresa Jarvis, Rob Mason, Alex Crosby, and George Edwards, were noticed as a prominent and significant music group after their song Ignorance came out in 2016. Formed a year earlier in 2015, YONAKA is often considered a rock band but has released music with elements of pop and hip-hop, fitting in with a number of genres.
Drawing inspiration from artists such as Amy Winehouse and Motown, the band is experimental with their music, releasing singles and EPs that talk about important issues such as mental health. Playing with the bands Fever 333 and Bring Me The Horizon, YONAKA was inspired to find their own manifesto and spread their message. After almost 4 years of being together, the band finally released their debut album Don’t Wait ‘Til Tomorrow in 2019.
