Belinda Carlisle is an American pop singer whose reputation was established as the lead singer for the all-female pop-punk band The Go-Go’s from 1978 to 1984. She was born in 1958 in Hollywood, California. Her debut full-length album “Belinda” went out in 1986 and achieved gold status, featuring the hit single “Mad About You”. In 1987 Carlisle issued “Heaven on Earth”, an LP that included an eponymous number one hit single. In 1989 another album titled “Runaway Horses” saw decreasing success, and two more releases in 1991 and 1993 went out with little notice. After an acclaimed 1994 reunion with The Go-Go’s, Carlisle went on to release compilation albums and recorded “A Woman and a Man” (1996) and “Voila” (2007). She has made some appearances in TV and theater, including the 2009 eighth season of “Dancing with the Stars” and a British adaptation of the musical “Hairspray”. Her musical solo career continued with the full-length “Wilder Shores” in 2017.
