The Pineapple Thief is an English progressive rock band. It was founded by Bruce Soord in 1999 in Somerset, England. They released their debut album “Abducting the Unicorn” under the label Cyclops Records. They released a second album titled “137” but it was their third album called “Variations on a Dream” which made them worldwide known. In 2002, Jon Sykes, Wayne Higgins, and Matt O’Leary joined the band and they released “12 Stories Down” in 2004. In 2006, the band released “Little Man” and two years later “What We Have Sown”. In 2008, they joined the Kscope label and they released the critically acclaimed album “Tightly Unwound”. In 2010 they released the album “Someone Here Is Missing” which launched at a show at Bush Hall, London, and whose attendees included Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree and Daniel Cavanagh of Anathema. In 2018, the band released its 12th studio album, “Dissolution” and hit the road in Europe, playing the live album “Hold Our Fire”.
