Coming from Quincy, Massachusetts, Dropkick Murphys was formed in 1995. The founding members are Mike McColgan, Rick Barton, and Ken Casey. In 1997, Matt Kelly was added to the group. Their first EPs are “Fire & Brimstone, “Tattoos and Scally Caps,” and “Boys on the Docks.” They released their first full-length in 1998 entitled “Do or Die.” Soon after, McColgan left the group and was replaced by Al Barr.
In 1998, their album follow-up “The Gang’s All Here” was released. The band line-up changed, as Rick Barton left the group to get married. March Orrell, James Lynch, Spicy McHaggis, and Ryan Foltz joined in to contribute to the band’s growling sound. Their third release “Sing Loud, Sing Proud” was released in 2001.
