Xander Bogaerts was born Xander Jan Bogaerts in Oranjestad, Aruba on October 1, 1992. He signed with the Boston Red Sox as an amateur free agent in 2009. He played in the All-Star Games in 2016, and he also won two Silver Sluggers, in 2015 and 2016. He was the Player of the Week for July 2018. He serves as the shortstop of the Boston Red Sox and wears shirt No. 2. Bogaerts also represented the Dutch National team. The team won the Baseball World Cup in 2011. In 2015, he became a finalist for the Rawlings Gold Glove award. He also participated in the World Baseball Classic in 2013 and 2017. While with the Red Sox, he participated in the World Series two times and the team also won in both competitions.
