Anees Mokhiber, professionally known as Anees is a Lebanese-Palestinian singer, rapper, and songwriter. Born on July 30, 1992 in Washington DC, the biracial entertainer is most popular for his hit single, “Sun and Moon,” which topped Billboard Philippines Songs.
In 2014, he enrolled to study philosophy and sociology at George Mason University. His courses contributed immensely to his growth as a thinker and observer, which manifested in his lyrical delivery. After earning his Juris Doctor degree from the same university in 2017, he decided to pursue his music career. His vehicle became his recording studio. There, he developed his sound and style.
Inspired by Eminem, Kanye West, and DAM, Anee became famous after a snippet of his song, “Drunk on Myself” went viral on Instagram in 2019. In 2020, he posted a snippet of “Slip” on TikTok, which amazed fans. His debut single “Neverland Fly” came out that same year. The song explored his battle with depression and mental health. While performing “Slip” on Instagram, Canadian artist Justin Bieber joined the livestream and praised Anees for his artistry.
“Sun and Moon,” released in 2022 became the first English song to hit number one in the Billboard Philippines Songs. The song has garnered over 20 million Spotify streams and 5 million YouTube views, becoming his biggest song yet.
