Widespread Panic Bio
Coming from Athens, Georgia, Widespread Panic was formed in 1982. Vocalist John Bell and guitarist Mike Houser started making music while still in college. Soon Dave Schools who plays bass joined the duo which resulted to the founding of Widespread Panic. Their debut single “Coconut Image” was released in 1986. A bit later, drummer Todd Nance, percussionist Domingo Ortiz, and keyboardist John Hermann joined to expand the band.
In 1988, Widespread Panic released their debut LP “Space Wrangler” under the tiny Landslide label. Soon after, they signed under Capricorn, a major label, releasing their sophomore EP in 1991. Their 1991 and 1992 tours expanded their fan base. In 1993, they released “Everyday.”
