Lightning Seeds Bio

Lightning Seeds are an English alternative indie rock band. The band was formed in 1989 by Ian Broudie who was formerly in the band Big in Japan. The first breakthrough of the group was after scoring an international hit with their single “Pure”. In 1989, they released their debut LP “Cloudcuckooland”. Originally Lightning Seeds was a solo project but it expanded into a touring band following the album “Jollification”. The band consisted of keyboardist Ali Kane, former Rain bassist Martyn Campbell, and former The Icicle Works drummer Chris Sharrock. In 1999 they released their next album titled “Tilt” which received a moderate commercial response. In 2009, the band released their sixth studio album called “Four Winds”. Their most well-known single “Three Lions” which was a collaboration with David Baddiel and Frank Skinner reached number 1 on the UK Charts in 1996 and 1998.
