Jahmaal Noel Fyffe, better known as Chipmunk or Chip, is a rapper born on November 26, 1990, in Tottenham, North London, England. Inspired by Wiley and Dizzee Rascal, Chip began rapping at 13. Wiley introduced Chip to Tim Westwood in 2007 and soon Chip’s career would start to grow. Chip released his debut album, I Am Chipmunk, in 2009. The album featured four pop songs that reached the top 10 of the UK charts. After his successful pop album, Chip created tracks that would lean more towards the grime genre and released his next album, Transition, in 2011. This album also marked the change of his name from Chipmunk to Chip. In 2015, Chip collaborated with the likes of D Double E, Jammer, Stormzy, and Kano in his two-part EP project, Believe and Achieve, further cementing his name in the grime genre. Chip has received several awards for his music, including Best Newcomer and Best Grime Act at the MOBO Awards.
