Alexander Skarsgård Bio

Alexander Skasgård was born on August 25, 1976 in Stockholm, Sweden. He started his acting at the age of seven with his first film appearance in Ake and His World (1984). His big break came from The Dog That Smiled (1989). The film was a hit and raised his profile to that of a national superstar. Alexander admits that instant fame took him by surprisem and he chose to take a break from acting. At 19, Alex joined the Swedish marines for 15 months. He then went on to study theatre at Marymount Manhattan College.

In 1999 he resumed his acting with roles in the Swedish industry. He made his entry into American films with Zoolander(2001). He went on to direct a movie in Sweden, To Kill a Child (2003). This film earned him the Grand Prix at the Odense International Film Festival. He then appeared in HBO’s True Blood, Straw Dogs (2011), and Battleship(2012). He won an Emmy in 2017 for Outstanding Supporting Actor In a Limited Series or Movie for the series Big Little Lies.
