Born in Pequannock, New Jersey on June 26, 1974, Derek Jeter was the first round, sixth overall pick of the New York Yankees in the 1992 MLB Amateur Draft. His current position is shortstop. He made his debut on May 29, 1995. He has been part of the All-Star Games 14 times. In 1996, he was the American League Rookie of the Year. In 2000, he was the World Series MVP as well as the AS MVP. In the same year, he received the AL Babe Ruth Award. He received the Hank Aaron Award twice, in 2006 and 2009. He was also a Roberto Clemente Award recipient in 2009 and was named as the 11th Greatest World Leader. He received five Gold Gloves and five Silver Sluggers.
