Alex Hilary Kurtzman is an American screenwriter, producer, and director who has had an extensive career in both film and TV. He was born in Los Angeles, California, United States, on September 7, 1973. He began his career in Hollywood in 1997 when he wrote and produced episodes for the TV series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. Alex wrote, directed, and produced the film The Mummy which features Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, and Russell Crowe. He has written for the films Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, The Proposal, and Mission Impossible III. He won the George Pal Memorial Award from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films and a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Class Animated Program.
