Edward Zwick is an American filmmaker, director, and film and television producer born in Chicago, Illinois on October 8, 1952. He is best known for his work on the films Glory, About Last Night, The Last Samurai, Blood Diamond, and Legends of the Fall. He co-founded the production company Bedford Falls Productions with Marshall Herskovitz. The company has produced the films and television shows Traffic, Shakespeare in Love, I Am Sam, thirtysomething, Once and Again, My So-Called Life, and more. Zwick made his directorial debut in 1986 on the film About Last Night… He has since been part the films Leaving Normal, The Siege, Defiance, Pawn Sacrifice, The Great Wall, Trial by Fire, American Assassin, About Alex and others. He has also worked on the shows Family, Special Bulletin, Once and Again, Dream Street, Extreme Close Up, and more. Zwick has had several acting roles in the films and show The Player, Once and Again, and Women vs. Men. His films have been nominated for numerous awards and have won a Golden Globe and four Academy Awards.
