Randy Jackson is an American reality TV personality, media producer and musician born in 1956 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He started playing bass as a teenager and later became a professional bassist, playing with acts like Jean-Luc Ponty, Billy Cobham and Journey in the 1980s. Jackson has also produced different high-profile artists like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Michael Bolton, Celine Dion, and Madonna, while also performing as a top executive at Columbia and MCA Records. Starting in 2002, he was hired as one of the judges in the contest reality TV show “American Idol” becoming a staple of the long-running program along Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul. Jackson has also hosted the musical radio show “Randy Jackson's Hit List,” and in 2008 he issued a solo album titled “Randy Jackson's Music Club,” featuring Paula Abdul.
