Menahan Street Band Bio
The Menahan Street Band is an instrumental band hailing from Brooklyn, New York, that was formed in 2007 and plays music that incorporates funk and soul into its sound. This band features former members of Antibalas, El Michels Affair, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, and the Budos Band, among other groups. They have created a signature sound that has been used as the foundation for some of the most successful beats in modern hip-hop; their music has been sampled by artists such as Eminem, Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, 50 Cent, and Curren$y, to name a few. They have also been sampled by other artists. New York City serves as their home base, and the band has modelled their distinctive sound after the urban environment of the city.
